I’ve searched through the forums have not found anything, I put aftermarket seats in my 2005 crew cab Dakota does anybody know a way to permanently turn on the passenger airbag without having to run the weight sensors and do all the recalibration for the stock seat? Any help would be appreciated I’m not so much concerned with the light being off I want the airbag to be functional.

As far as I'm aware, If your airbag light is on the airbags won't deploy. Unfortunately I don't think any place will touch it outside of the dealer because its a safety item.

im unsure of the design of this system in particular. is this switch just set to trip at a certain weight on the seat? if you have a multimeter find the wires for the seat switch on the original seat and do an ohm test acrossed it empty and start adding weight to the seat. if its a simple system it will either be an open switch or a closed switch. most likely and normally open switch. if so just jump the wires for the switch and it will basically trick it to think there always someone sitting there.

Our Dakotas do have a weight sensing system in the passenger seat for the airbag deployment. The only possible way to defeat this would be with a Starscan tool, which could possibly override the weight sensor factor. It's a dealer tool, and no dealer will assist you, not a chance. The airbag deploys when a certain weight is in the seat, so as not to injure a child.

A bunch of threads have come up over the years on various Dodge vehicles, same as you, swapped in different seats, and no resolve has ever been posted. At least, not that I've seen.

1st transfer the weight sensor to the new seats. 2nd (speaking from a ford), the "airbag simulator bypass tool" produced 2 ohms of resistance that could be plugged in to the harness and would act as the sensor.
