Gotta go to work, so real quick...

A/C clutch bearing is about to lock up. The compressor works fine and there's no noise when the clutch in engaged.

My mech. is saying it's a $600 dollar fix. I'd rather break out my wrenches again than give him that much money for a freakin' "pulley".

So, can I just replace the A/C clutch or am I going to need a refurbished compressor?

gotta get a whole compressor. to replace the clutch ya gotta seperate the shaft from the case. not only are ya paying for the unit, but also the oil, R-134a and the time to evac the system and such. shop around, should find a better price, but $600 sounds fair with todays labor rates.

BTW, be sure the guy has a Refirg handlers card for cars.

Where's the icon of a smiley shooting himself in the head? :)

If I've gotten my parts identified right there's a shop on Ebay that can get me a whole unit for about $180 delivered. (? gotta double check that ?)

Thanks for the help.
