I have a 92 dodge Dakota sport with a 3.50 rear end, I want to swap a 2nd gen Dakota 3.92 possi rear end into it, I know I need a transmission for that, but I need some help on weather or not it will work

I'm not sure why you would need a new transmission. It should bolt right in as far as I know. Might need to change the input flange on the pinion but only if its new enough to have a flat flange instead of a yoke. You will need a new gear insert for the speedometer cable but outside of that you should have all the pieces you need. Unless it has disc brakes then you might need different cables for the E-brake. I have an axle off a 2004 dakota I'm going to install on my 93 dak in the future it is an upgrade to discs and I need to rebuild the detroit locker that's in it, but when I measured the distance from pin to pin they were the same.

I was wandering if the standard transmission would be alright, wouldn't I be turning my engine too fast at 65 to 70? Also can the coilovers be transferred to my 92?

The standard trans will be fine I've seen people run 4.10 in them though at 75+ its wrapped up pretty good. not sure on the coilovers. You can lookup the shocks maybe, see if they're the same part. I've not really messed with them before as I have always had 4wd with the torsion suspension.

I believe that by 92 dodge was already using electronic speedometers, (I know 93 did) which ran off a speed sensor on the transmission, so the pcm may have to be recalibrated for the different gear ratio. There should be no need to change the transmission. but like Zaan said depending on what year the rear end is out of you may have to change the flange or yoke on the rear end to match your drive shaft. And depending on if you stay with the same size rear end. Most daktas have a 8-1/4 rear the heavy duty or tow packages may use the 9-1/4 rear then the driveshaft length will be different. A Durango has the spring mounts on the axle in the same position as the 2wd dakota, So you can also use the Durango axle too.

Negative ghostrider. I own a 93 dakota and have had issues with the inline sensor on the speedo cable that operates the cruise control. My gauge is 100% cable driven. Maybe it was a split year thing in 93?? Never checked as it did not pertain to my rig.
