ok now i have been reading from different forums on getting a digital cluster for my 88 dak, and some mention going with custom gauges and some mention goin with a later model gauges but i just want to replace my old ass cluster for all digital gauges and i have seen a few in summit racing but i wanna know if this is possible work reguardless of the fitment but ill work around with it later, just seeing if any additional parts needed to go with this or these are just direct plug-n-play type ? For THAT product, why not read the installation manual from Dakota Digital? VFD3-1007: Universal 3.8" x 8.1" Rectangle, Digital Instrument (dakotadigital.com)

There isn't a direct plug and play type; some of the signals aren't even THERE at the dash on a 1988 (as will be seen by perusing the factory service manual - trust me, if you want to redo the cluster, I'd start with the factory wiring diagrams and work from there.)

You'll need compatible sensors and wiring, of course.

This includes some kind of sending unit for the gas tank.

I don't understand the fascination with digital gauges for most of them - I mean, does it really matter if you have 12.35 or 12.45 gallons of gas? Or 31.3 or 34.2 PSI oil pressure? Or if you're at 59.9. or 60.1 MPH?

If I ever go full hawg on my 1988, I'm looking more for the analog multi gauge sets, like 3-3/8" QUAD GAUGE, 100 PSI/100-250 °F/8-18V/240-33 Ω, ARCTIC WHITE (autometer.com) and then 3-3/8" TACHOMETER/SPEEDOMETER COMBO, 8K RPM/120 MPH, ELECTRIC, ARCTIC WHITE (autometer.com) .

u know what i love these type of multi gauges and the tach and im definitely is going to use those two right there, all im going to do is rip out the old cluster and make a custom plate cover for them two gauges. in total honest yh ive looked into more info about the digitals and it been said that most of them are gonna require computer and new harnesses which i want to avoid at all cost anyways
