Hey guys, I was driving in the snow this week and found that my 4x4 drive doesn't work. Are there anythings i could check at home or would it be best to take it to a transmission shop?

Well, being a 99 it's manual shift. Assuming you had it pulled into gear...the linkage could be off/broken. Other than the linkage, it would be something mechanical. Likely in the transfer case.

It felt like it would lock in but the wheels wouldn't spin. I'm going to put it on jacks and see if they spin with no load

There is no clutching involved, jacking it up and checking for no-load function does nothing. If it doesn't work, something is broken.

I wanted to see if the wheels lock. What makes the wheels lock on it, vaccum or eletric?
