I have a 2001 Dakota and can't for the world of me figure out how to put the auto trans into neutral for flat towing. Will someone please show me how? :huh:

Are you talking about the transfer case or transmission? Put the shift lever into the 2nd shift down from park and it will say N on the dash. Same thing with tcase. If its electric turn the knob to N if its a floor shifter pull it into N

If you have the transfer case I do in my 04 which has awd 4hi 4lo by the letter N there is a little button .Use a ballpoint pen to push this button & turn the nob to N . Hope this does the trick

I just tried it. Pushed button, it flashed red. Knob will only go to 2 whl, 4 hi 4 lo. Won't turn to N. What if anything am I doing wrong?

I have a different model Mine is AWD. No 2wd .Maybe someone else can hop in here & rescue you.

I'm assuming you have the electronic tcase shifter? Put the truck in neutral and switch it all the way left to N you may have to roll the truck a little to get it to shift properly

The knob on the electric switch will not go to the bottom left where the N with the red light is.

you cannot do that on that transfer case switch.
I have the same, 2wd, 4 hi, and 4 low. When the red light is flashing, let the truck roll a little bit, and it will go into N. You can put it in drive and test it out if you need to.

Does the vehicle have to have power to soft top neutral
