Hey guys I just got done working for nearly the full summer and have a pocket full of cash lol. I just bought some 206 duration 502 lift off of ebay that I MADE DEAD SURTAIN are straight and measured them with the micrometer and did the conversion with the rocker arm ration and they cam out to be 502 intake and like 468 exhaust?...I got to buy some lash caps but that's alright because im just lucky I found them lol...the 08 intake manifold is sitting in my garage and im waiting for the adaptor from airram which should be here the 25th (that guy is super cool!)...im going defiantly buy more stuff from airram probably today im going to buy a set of Gibson shorty headers and a F&B 70 mm throttle body...anything im forgetting that should help me out on my budget build? im thinking im going to get it tuned on the dyno this winter...my big question is, is how hard is it to swap heads? I was looking into the economy prepped heads on airram. if you guys are interested in the beginning of the build up check it out on youtube just type in 08 intake manifold swap dodge 4.7 thanks guys and let me know what you think!

Sounds like it's fun! It should be a definite improvement over my 02 intake, which is considered the worst one to have. Just wish I could find some dyno #'s to back it.

Torque converter is still awesome.. just shoves you in the seat only at half throttle. I don't even need to floor it to get all the power out of it since it puts me in the torque band instantly.

While I cannot provide dyno results, I had my stock '01 manifold on with headers, exhaust, F&B 70mm, HHR fan/shroud and the usual bolt on performance parts. Then added the '06 manifold from my spare (to be built) HO engine, then later went to the '08 manifold.

'01 to '06 HO manifold changed the personality of the motor. Seemed better at all rpms, definitely mid and top were better but did not notice any low end drop at all. Really liked the change!

'06 HO to '08 manifold did notice below 3k rpm drop in torque and response but also a noticeable increase from 3k up to 6k power increase.

Since I have converted to manual TKO trans and can keep rpms where I want them vs automatic and my main purpose for the truck is street/strip and not daily driver I really like the '08 manifold. If street driven and more daily driver and peak power not as important the '06 manifold is a great piece (you also save on the cost of the adapter for '08).
If interested I am going to be selling the '06, $100 plus shipping. The manifold has been smoothed and cleaned up a little, painted black with a coat of "EFFEX" and then clear coated.

All I can say is, is that the 08 intake manifold is probably one of the best mods ive done lol... just bought my standalone fuel setup for my nitrous hopefully it all works out well!...and dang that's a good price man!...those valve covers look great!
I would be curious what you find out abou tthe 70 mm throttle body. I bought a 70 mm f and b off airram years ago had exact same problem. Surges and idle problems also. Put stocker back on runs fine. I took back off been in the box ever since actually forgot I still had it.
I think I found the problem...the blade was actually machined slightly to small and it slides to one side or the other leaving a small gap and letting air pass by....im going to try to get ahold of him because he has yet to answer his phone....I really need some answers lol because im getting it tuned in the very near future and actually wouldn't mind swapping it out for the 72mm while im at it
Has anyone ran the economy prepped or race prepped heads for the 4.7?...and if so how do they perform?

Hey I was going to ask you if you got your Dakota tuned on the dyno instead of the usual data log and email lol...just a quick question sorry about that!

Data logging and email. Dyno just proved out how well that works. It was so spot on tune wise we were only able to gain a very small amount.
Did you ever make it to the track?

I see..thats crazy how he can do so well....and no sir I did not make it to the track:(...I really didn't want to either because afr's are so far off sometimes into the mid 15s I kinda didn't want to but I sure would've if I could've...plus ive been waiting on this tune from flyin ryan for a long time and apparently he says there is a bug that sct has been unable to fix I just really need this and hope he can get it fixed asap..in the mean time im going to get these heads on and hope he can get this fixed by then

I have a set of Knowlton P&P heads sitting In a box when I get my new motor in the next month or so I can let you know on them.

oh wow! nice!...are they the economy heads or the race prepped heads? and how are they to work with?...how long did it take for them to get your heads to you? and did you pay the extra 500 dollars for the core or no? lol sorry for all the questions
With his there all done the same unless you get big valves so it is in the ball park of Nick race preps I got them from red ram he had a spare set of heads and sent them in think it took a month or so but he end up selling his truck before he ever put them on so I bought them off of him with a set of beehive springs

wow you made out really well! haha.. well im probably going to get the ones with the big valves...I hope it doesn't take to long because its my daily driver haha... how much spray are you running on your rig?
I was running only ran it a few times but did 55, 75,100. After I get forged positions and rods it will be 100.
How safe would you say the 75 and 100 shot was before the forged rods and pistons?...i talked with Nick at Airram and i was told with all forged internals and main girdle studs and head studs, a guy could run a 200 shot on the 4.7 all day long...but since this is my daily driver how safe would you say the 75 shot and 100 shot are?
I feel from my limited experience on my truck 75 was OK my truck didn't seem to like the 100 very much but I had some phantom issue going on around the same time so I never really use the hundred shot but like maybe three times. But mine is zex kit and I added a windows switch( which was a major pain in the ass) along with a fuel pressure switch.

The bottom end of the 4.7 is pretty stout The motor could possibly take a 200 but of course it comes down to cost you looking at $3500ish in parts that's if you can find the crank even though the stock crank isn't bad..... That's the thing about the 4.7 they are kind of expensive to build for what you really end up with but I still it's fun doing it.

I never went with anything larger than 75 on my old motor. With my new ho motor I'll probably at least try a 100 shot
Oh you swap your motor when did you do that is it a stock ho or did you do some work to it
Oh yeah and I have to say the 4.7 with the auto sucks the first performance of mod with the auto should be to the switch transmission. My Old roommate had a quad cab 4.7 with the auto and if I had had his truck I would've sold it.

My original 4.7 broke a rod, tore up 2 cylinders, cracked the girdle. Bought a ho short block had the heads ported, tighter valve springs and reused all the bolt on's. Mine should have 325+ hp to the wheels
