3.9V6 Auto to 5.9V8 Manual Swap.

Hey guys! Ive owned my 95 dakota for many many years now and it sat for 5 of those years... Sadly the little V6 needs a new thrust bearing... And i got to thinking about swapping in the 360 V8 and the NV3500 trans.. Now my question is what exactly do i need...i cant find any pre 96 or obd1 5.9... There all from 98 up around me. I know that i will need a 95 computer from a truck or van and i Guess a 5.2 computer Will work as well but. My concern is how will the 98 engine work with the 95 harness and computer as well as the dash? Or am i just over thinking? Ik ill need electric fans etc and all that. Ill Need the pedal box and all the clutch stuff as well and the drive shaft. Most likely donor truck for all that! Another question i have is will that v8 blow the v6 rear end to oblivion or am i safe there? Thank U all in advance for any help and answers!

OK.

1) The 5.2 computer will work to drive the truck; but if you can find a 1994/1995 RAM 5.9 manual computer, that would work better.

2) Why would you need electric fans? They didn't need them for the 5.2; although I WOULD upgrade to the Max Cooling sized radiator.

3) You may need to swap the crank and cam sensors; possibly ECT also. Everything else should be fine.

4) Depends. Is the old rear a 7.25" or a 8.25", and are you planning to romp on it hard or just drive it?

I assume i could just take the sensors out of my v6 and put them in the 5.9 correct? And i also plan on just normally cruising but the odd time id like to get er a lil sideways!

Check and see if the 5.2 and 3.9 sensors are the same; but with the motor going in, I'd pick up new Mopar sensors since I have two cousins, my lawyer cousin Aloysius Murphy and my survivalist cousin Justin Case. :devil:

Are the manual transmissions the same for the 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9?

They use the nv3500 with the 3.9 it's what's in my v6 01 quad cab 2wd. I'm building a carbed magnum 5.9 from a crate long block all I need is a 5.9 fly wheel but if your going donor truck route then you should have everything you need.

depending on the year of the donor truck. they used the ax15 manual tranny on some. nv3500 on v8s. so watch out for that when you go looking.
