I am looking around and I see that there is the 2" lift coils, and then the 3" coils that require a new control arm as well. Is 3" the biggest there is? There's a pretty big price difference between the 2" boost and the 3" lift.

If I got the new control arm for the 3" spring, could I run a 3" spring and a 2" spacer to make it 5 inches? Probably not, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.

3 inch body lift is your best bet bud. other than that all ya have to choose from is a suspension lift.

I want to go higher than 3" with the suspension lift, but it owuld appear that I'm out of luck...

yup 3" is as big as you can go for 2wd suspension, unless you go custom

What exactly do you need that kind of lift for? You are actually just making your truck more vulnerable to flipping going that high. I have a 2wd dak too. They aren't very off road capable. They're fun for just tooling in dirt and shit but otherwise...I don't know man. Don't waste your money lifting a 2wd dakota. I love my truck, but if I were you I'd sell the 2wd, buy a 4x4 and throw the three inch rancho and the three inch PA body lift on it. And yeah same answer. Fabtech 3" or Doestch 3" are the only way to go other than custom. Whatever you decide to do I hope it turns out all right man.

that is correct lifting a 2wd truck isn't for serious offroad like you said but just take a look at baja style trucks or prerunners or w/e you wana call it. just more for high speed trail riding, which is alot of fun. everybody has there own thing.

I understand what your saying. Its just that I don't understand why you would want to stack more that 3 inches of suspension lift on top of 3 inches of bodylift to tool around in the dirt. However thats just me. I respect his decisions. Its all preference. By the way, nice Durango. That things pretty sick man. Wish I could say the same about my truck but I have to spend all my money on fixing the damn thing. Nothing left over to do what I want to do to it.

Right now I've got an 89 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with a 3" lift and 33" tires that I use for any serious off roading. Before that I had a 1995 4Runner that was on 35's.

I've got a few reasons for wanting to lift it...

1) Every truck I've ever owned has sat way higher than my dakota and until I put this body lift on it felt like I was just driving a limo (It's a club cab with the full size bed... long and low to the ground)

2) I enjoy customizing my rigs, and although I have tons of respect for people who drop their trucks, that isn't my kinda thing. So if I'm not going to drop it, the only other direction is upwards.

3) Lets just face it, the truck will look way cooler this way

4) Although I rarely take it off-road since it's my daily driver, I still like to put a little mud on it now and again just to remind myself of how nice a muddy Dakota looks.

Do people that have 4x4's that drop them get as much crap as I get for wanting to lift a 4x2? :jester:

no your not the first person to be crazy enough to lift a 2wd, mines got the fabtech 3" and 3" body lift and i love it for a 2wd truck. that dakota looks sick though. i see it has the fabtech lift and i think it has a body lift also. your truck is gonna look sick to when it's done. what type of wheels and tires you gonna run?

Hey man. Disregard what I said. That truck is gonna look sick. Trust me I think the same way. I got the extended cab with the full size bed as well. I just don't understand why any truck would be made with that little ground clearance. I think I have a bias. I'm 17 and have very limited amounts of cash. Therefore I only plan to do a 2" lift in the front and 1.5" in the back. Then run some 265/75/15 BFG All Terrain T/As on the stock rims and be done with it. I'm into off roading though. Its something I'd like to get into and my truck is just something that gets me around and if need be it makes a good work truck. Guess I'll wait and when I find the right 4x4 at a good price I'll grab it. Well good luck with the lift man.

I wasn't upset or anything, I was just answering the question of "why would anyone lift a 2wd".

I'm going to go with the 6on4.5 Eagle Alloys and a set of either 32's or 33's. It's gonna be awesome when I'm done, I'm slowly but surely getting there.

if you get a 33x12.5 be careful it might rub a lil, that's what mine did til i trimmed some of the fender away, im just gonna replace the whole fender w/ some Glassworks Unlimited Baja style fenders. good luck w/ your truck though.
