Buddy of mine just bought a new Ram with the 5.7. Ran it once at the dragstrip and went 16.0 at 94mph. He spun pretty bad, but the mph says its a high 14 sec truck.

Regardless of the advertised hp, these things have gotten alot heavier in the last 15-20 years. All that extra weight negates the power boost theyve gotten.

They're supposed to be low 14 second trucks. Sounds like your buddy needs some practice.

yeah thats what i was thinking i ran a ram rt with my durango fbo and the ram ran a 13.9 my Durango ran a 14.2 so i was thinking those rams are pretty dang quick even not being an rt also i was wondering is there a big weight diff between the extended cab dakota rt and the durango rt? the durango is a lot shorter so i was thinking they would be fairly similar from what i know the durango rt weighs 4700 and the dakota rt weighs 4400 so bassically 300 which really isnt that much let me know if yall know the exact weight thanks

So every Ram with the 5.7 no matter the options run low 14s? Or just the standard cab, RWD only, 3.92 geared examples like in the article?

My buddies truck was a 4WD, base geared, 4-door example... heavier and thus slower than what Car and Driver tested. Like I said, had the potential to go high 14s

Only the R/Ts are supposed to be that fast. I guess the title of the topic mislead me. I was under the impression he was comparing the Dakota R/T to the newer Ram R/T. I missed the whole Durango thing. I should have read it better before replying.
