now every time I hear ranchos I'm reminded off the new Ford pick up commercial bragging about there factory 2" lift with Rancho shocks. I mean really 2" lift with Rancho shocks as if to say wow I just have to run out and by one now so I can easily get over the gravel chunks in my driveway LOL give me a break

I don’t even watch television. (MKUltra) I’ve never even seen a Ford commercial. When a commercial comes on and I’m near a TV, I don’t look.

I bought the ranchos not for any lift, but because they’re the only one I could get my hands on right away.

I get 2” of lift just by adding 20lbs of air in my air bags. So far the ranchos have been great. This truck is now riding like brand new.

by the way I thought a bit on the bags for my Dakota and not sure how that would work my springs run under my rear end and not above like yours so in theory these would allow me to lower the rear end but only raise back to factory and then intern accommodate more load is my thinking correct or am I missing something?

The air kit you need then is called Firestone Sport Rite

Well that’s all for this long episode. The lift kit is installed, new shocks all around, new CV axles, new axle shaft bearings, new front wheel bearings and brakes, new struts and new pedals.

The e-fan conversion is complete, and working perfectly. Temp needle never moves past half.

So far everything is working great! I’m definitely noticing an increase in power to the wheels too. I’ll see how much extra gas mileage I get.

I Highly recommend these mods for any vehicle. The e-fan is nice and quiet and keeps the engine at the perfect temp.

Tuesday I am planning to make the switch over to 0w20 Pennzoil Platinum. Should see some more power and mpg’s freed up with the changeover. We shall see.

Well you know how it is...

I’m just not 100% satisfied with the lift.

So I’ve made a decision...

I’m gonna go ahead and do the front differential drop and levelling kit. Parts on the way.

I dunno, I kinda think this type of Dakota just looks better lifted AND sitting level.

I have a back rack to install at some point as well. But I’m torn on the back rack not tonneau cover. Maybe I’ll run tonneau cover in the winter to keep the snow out, and back rack in the summer to haul my construction gear.

Oh yeah! Honestly that's what I've been thinking this whole time but I figured if you had to spend almost 4k because of those spacers you wouldn't try it again. Keep us updated!

I'd have to agree I can't stand squatters front or rear when I dropped my Dakota yrs ago I was very pleased with my decision to go 2" in the front and 3" in the rear so it was level. when I raised it back up I didn't like the unevenness but to busy to fool with cutting down the lowering block from 3 to 1 since I wasn't hardly ever driving it I let it go Now it's going to my son so I'll let him make his own choices and help where I'm needed

I’m doing the diff drop kit this time.

I had expensive repairs because I didn’t even know about the need for a diff drop when I originally did the levelling kit when the truck was new.
