The cd player has been kicking ass for 15 yrs now. Even though I have lots of aftermarket equip., this stereo sounded so good I decided to leave it in. All I had to do was add a sub and it was cranking! Recently the cd player stopped working. Only the eject function worked, displayed the time and shut down completely. I replaced it with a cd player I yanked from a PT Cruiser with matching part no.'s. It behaves the same way. I was told that the problem could be with the truck itself and maybe the external amp is the culprit, if I even have one??? Can anyone shed some lite on this issue? Thanx either way!

You didn't say if the radio part was working -- but I'm assuming it's not?

It almost sounds like your stereo isn't seeing the keyswitch circuit. It's got battery power all the time -- hence ejects the CD and shows time for a bit -- but if it doesn't see the keyswitch line go hot, it doesn't fire up fully. That would also explain why the new unit did the same. There's probably a fuse dedicated to the radio keyswitch line.

I believe I said EXACTLY that above. What's with you idiots who see fit to create a ID, and then all you do is parrot someone else's posts? Crawl back into your momma's basement. It's nappy time.
