Yea, you're right. Probably better for you to stay with your 318.

Wasnt trying to be a smartass, but to spend all that money and effort to do a 5.7 swap I would expect the newer technolgy to give a pretty decent benefit in mileage and power. The earlier post of 25mpg is quite impressive, 17 isn't.

Too impressive. Believe what you will, but I'd really like to see how realistic the conditions were in which someone pulled down 25mpg with a 5.7L Quad Cab 4x4 Dakota.

Didnt say I believed it, or disbelieved it. I would need to hear those claims from several sources first. No offence to anyone in paticular but I find the BS monster usually shows their ugly head whenever the subject of mileage comes up.

I haven't completed a hemi swap and I don't think the cost of the swop could ever be justified by fuel efficiency. If I was to do the swop, I would be doing it for the power. My choice of ECM would be a megasquirt running parallel to the stock computer using a cable throttle body.

You are going to have to find a Ram 2500 with the Hemi/5spd. manual PCM in order to run it initially. After that, you will either have to get an SCT tuner to change your PCM to a manual or get a truck with the automatic.

This thread somehow trasfered to fuel efficiency. I have a 04 dakota 4x4 quad cab. I also have an 07 hemi engine from a Ram. Should i mate the the two with the ram computer. Also whats up with these motor mounts? Are they different with my 4x4?
