I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota SLT my door locks are constantly trying to lock I traced all the wires and can’t find a short or broke wire anywhere and with all wires disconnected from the switches on both passenger and driver door the locks still keep trying to lock. I even wrapped every wire in electrical tape trying to cover up a small break I didn’t see and that didn’t help. Any ideas would be helpful
I have never had a problem with this part on my '03, but from what I have read, I am pretty sure that on an '01 the CTM (Central Timer Module) controls the door locks.
I don't know if this relates to your issue and the year/model of your truck.
On 98 Durango's there was the option to have the door locks programmed to automatically lock above 20 miles.
I’ve never had mine do that but I have heard more and more about that being a feature. It’s now evolved to the point of only trying to lock to both locking and unlocking sporadically.
It's the ctm. The same thing happened on our 2001 along with one of the headlights mysteriously not working. I'm not sure if there's a way to do it yourself now, but we had to have the dealership do ours back in 2014
I've read a few CTM related posts on the other Dakota forum, and by one member in particular who states that the CTM is a breeze to change and affordable on ebay. The caveat he lists is to look at the part number on your CTM and to make sure that you are ordering the same part number.
Power door locks haven't worked since I bought the truck, and power windows all went out one by one...well, I'm afraid to roll driver's side down, as the others all stuck. My wrench had to 'jump' CTM to get the windows rolled up (rainy season in CA...) Wrench tested both power window plugs at...

and in this post he doesn't indicate that you do need to do any programming.
In another post on this forums about CTMs, the matter of programming seems to be up in the air.
OldMarine (who I was referring to) is quite knowledgeable, and I'd almost pretty much take his advice on most everything.
