For the 4.7 swap, I don't know how anyone would know the difference when looking under the hood, unless they're a hardcore Dakota person. Seems like a pretty low risk swap to me.

… well anything is possible. Just depends on how much time and much money you have. :) I never seem to have both of them at the same time.

Seriously, it’s not going to be easy. The 01 is a Jtec PCM engine, and 2002 and newer are all NGC. This means the tone ring on the crackshaft has different amounts of teeth. (25 vs 32) Just swapping the motor over, you’ll never get it started. I don’t believe swap the tone ring on a factory crankshafts. I’m not familiar with the 4.7 as I had already made up my mind what I was going to do as soon as mine blew, I was putting the Hemi in.

It may be possible to install a 5.2 or 5.9, as I believe they’re both Jtec’s but you’ll probably need the engine harness and the PCM from the donor vehicle, as the electrical connectors for the accessories are probably different and not routed in the correct location.
