Get a caliper or a good measuring tape and measure the outside diamiter as well as the inside dia,
Personally i would not go bigger than 2 and a half outside diameter, youll loose the scavenging effect and power above 2,500 rpm

Stock size on the 4.7L is 2.5in.

Here's my suggestion: go on Magnaflow's website and put your truck info in their product search, it will be worth the money, and a direct fit, no problem installation.

as mentioned above go to mfg that already list an exhaust setup you want. then you can either just buy that or build it yourself or have a shop duplicate it with the tweeks you want.
