My 2000 Durango 4.7 transmission is slipping after it warms up. It also downshift very hard when slowing down and it takes a couple seconds to get in gear when I change direction. Like reverse to drive for example. Any thoughts?

Have you changed the transmission fluid? I've noticed on my 03 when the fluid is burned up/worn, it did the same things plus it would cause the PCM to read some weird codes that resulted from that. That would the first thing to do and check. If it still does it after the fluid change, then it may be that the transmission/torque converter are worn out. If it is, then any transmission from the Ram/Durango will work as long as it is the 545RFE. Your trans is the 45RFE but the only difference between your 2000 and others is the TCM dictates the number of gears, as the RFE is capable of possessing up to 8 gears, according to Allpar.
