1999 Dodge Dakota, 5.2 V8, hard start problems. Car won't start by just turning the key. Some times you will get rapid clicking when turning it over. If you pump the gas and turn it over you can get it to start, but you have to keep the RPM's up or the car dies. If you keep the RPM's up for 5-10 minutes it will finally idle on it's own. Any ideas?

Have you checked all of your sensors? Maybe o2 sensor?

I checked the battery out with a volt meter. It was only reading 9.8 volts (without the car on). I took the car over to AutoZone and had them test the battery. It tested bad. I replaced the battery and haven't had a problem since.
