Hey guys,

I searched the forum, unless I overlooked it I could not find info on an 05 durango for towing capacity. Looking to buy and pull a camper but dont want to overpull. Found some campers at 5500-7500 gvwr.

Ive google searched, coming up with a few different specs from 8500-9500 lbs for towing capacity. Anyone else tow with an 05 durango?

Here is what my specs are.

05 SLT 2WD 5.7 Hemi

3.55 Rear gears

Tire size - 265/70/17

Factory Towing Package w/ Tow/Haul button

I understand a brake controller will help with the pull and control. Thanks in advance to all.

The max towing capacity for the Gen II Durango's was 8950 lbs with 5.7 HEMI. That may be what yours is, as 4WD reduces towing capacity by at least 1000lbs.
I believe you are going to be safe with whatever you get.

Thank you for that information. I do have 265 tires instead of factory 245's. Do you happen to know what that does for lbs with towing? I wasnt sure if there is a way to calculate that or not?

Those tires are barely larger than what you had before. I would be more concerned about the load range rating. If your new tires are not load range E, you are playing Russian roulette with your Durango, your life and your family.
