Hello there,

I own a 04 dakota 3.7 v6, 4 speeds automatic 4x4. I am planning to swap the engine and install a 4.7 v8.

What model would fit under the hood and would i need to change? the tranny? Wire harness? A/C? what else would need to be changed or stay? Any other suggestions and ideas would be very helpful.

I am assuming your 04 has a 545RFE transmission already in it? If so the 3.7 and 4.7 are very similar. You will at least need to figure out what ECU you have now (3 plug or 4 plug) and find a donner vehicle. Engine mounts, ECU, engine wiring harness, and probably TC.

Does it matter if i swap to Ram's engines or Jeep's? Or should it suppose to be a dakota's?
And what is the "TC" exactly?
