I Have been Having trouble trying figure out this issue i am a mechanic myself but this one has me stumped 04 Dakota 4.7l Quadcab ....If i accelerate quickly the rev limiter tops out at 4k and wont shift until i let off like almost if you was in park or neutral and you just held the petal to the floor and let it bounce off limit which also wondering y my limit is only 4k i had a few durangos before but if i recall the rev limiter on them were higher than that ive flushed and replaced the transmission fluid and both filters and it still does it no change also new bank 1 sensor 1 02 sensor and new MAP Sensor New IAC valve And something is screwed up with emissions on it too i had eveything hooked up and it still leaves a blue cloud everywhere start it up sometimes it stalls when u go to put it in gear put park and neutral just fine other than idle is a lil choppy till fully warmed up idk it
still peforms pretty well just was trying to get these small kinks out any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't tow a bicycle with that 286.7! Fun little 8 but to small for that quad cab and she's old! Those trannys are not the best. I have an 02 RWD 4.7 Quad cab and I am hesitant putting to many grocery bags in the cab! Baby that truck and retire her from being a work horse!

Whoa, that is so much misinformation on this engine that needs to be addressed. The 4.7, when taken care of, is still strong versus the 5.2/5.9 and I have pulled close to 7K lbs. without issues even in the last few years. The OP is wanting advice, not criticism based on bad info.

OP, you need to pull the transmission codes or have a scantool to check that the transmission is not having any issues with solenoid pack.
