A problem with the occupant restraint control module has prompted Chrysler to recall 184,215 SUVs globally.
Both the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are affected by the problem, caused by a short circuit in the control module responsible for detecting a passenger in the front seat. If that passenger is not detected, the air bag warning light will come on and supplemental restraint systems such as air bags and seat-belt pretensioners may not function.
Chrysler is unaware of any injuries or collisions as a result of this issue. Local dealers will replace the module free of charge.
