2005 Dodge Dakota 4.7L - P0340

Hello everyone. My 2005 Dodge Dakota had a P0340 - Camshaft DTC, the sensor has been replaced and although I do not have any more DTC codes, the truck will not start. The truck will start if the Camshaft Position Sensor is unplugged, but idles very rough and won't rev higher than 2700 RPM. As soon as I plug the connector back in and try starting, I have no luck. Any ideas as to what could be causing this, any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Sounds like although youve replaced the sensor per the code; perhaps the replacement is defective or even the wrong part. Try another one.

I have another one I'm going to try over the weekend, hopefully that's the issue. Thanks for the input!

Problem solved! Somehow the teeth on the passenger side camshaft jumped on the timing chain, I corrected the timing and now everything is running great!
