96 Dakota Misfires and Tries to die when hot

Hello all,
I've got a 96 Dakota Sport, 2.5l 5 speed. It will start and idle fine with no issues, but if I let it get hotter than regular operating temperature it starts to miss really bad and occasionally the motor will just completely die, before it even gets hot enough for the fan to turn on. It seems to be any time it gets hotter than operating temperature, if I cut it off and don't wait for it to cool down a bit it starts to miss bad as soon as it cuts on until the coolant circulates and cools it down. Today the missing happened leaving the gas station, I pulled out onto the highway and everything was fine until about 45mph it started missing again, so bad that I believe the only thing keeping the motor turning was the weight of the truck. After about 10 seconds it quit and accelerated normally up to 60, no more problems the whole way home. I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find anything about this and was just wondering if anybody has had a similar problem or has an idea of what it might be, any help is appreciated.

It's a 1996, it's OBDII - have you tried data logging with an OBDII reader to see what the ECU thinks is happening?
