4x4 light

when my 4 wheel is engaged, should there be a light on the dash letting me know it's on? was out in the snow last nite and had to feel the shifter to see if i had it engaged, too dark to see it.

Yeah, there should be a light. Not sure if you should look for the bulb to be out or the sender.

The switch on your transfer case isn't working like it should anymore. This is the common reason for the lights to stop working.

Different issue, but sometimes when I put mine into part time, or 4 all the time, when I want to get out of it, the light does not want to turn off. I read in the manual that you have to go in and out of four at certain speeds with the tranny in neutral. Could my switch be worn out, or out of alignment if that is possible. Or is it something not to worry about, because eventually the light goes out.

Mine works sometimes and sometimes it don't... I simply make a turn if it is not on to know if it is in 4wd or not.

The odds of the dash light going out are low, as the lulb is LED, and they have a life-span much greater than your truck has. I'm not sure if auto parts stores have them, but I'm sure most local dealers have them.

In all honesty, I have no idea why that is.

I know mine is 'burnt out' as I replaced the switch on the t-case and it still doesnt come on. (the original switch was bad as well) I'm not going to bother switching the bulb, as I know when it is in 4x4.

A good sharp edge is a man's best hedge against the vague uncertainties of life.

What you should do is go under your truck and unplug the connector that is on the top of the transfer case. Stick a paper clip in one of the two holes in the connector and touch it to a GOOD ground on the truck. If the light goes on it is the sensor, if it doesn't it is either the bulb or wiring. If I remember right the left side of the connector will turn on the LOW light and the right side will turn on the 4x4 light.
