Quad Cab Sub Box

i was reading on some canadian forum about quad cab sub boxes and one guy on there had the idea of removing the lower 60 cushion from the back seat and replacing it with a 40 cushion to give a gap in between the 2 seats to do a sub box. i am wondering if anyone has done this or has seen this done and how it can be done if at all. any photos or info at all would be greatly appreciated!!

SheDevl is going to try to do this but if you do it gives you less than 9 inches between the two seats. If you can make a box work in that space and get the sub you want in there but if you looking to fit like a 10" sub your SOL. So if you want to go big than it won't work but if you want like a 7" sub for just a little more bump you would be good. Should be able to fit an 8" in the too but might be a little bit harder.

i was just going to use the extra space for the airspace of the box and have the sub sticking out past the seats a little to get up to 10 inches, thanks for the heads up though and i will look for the completion of the one you mentioned

Not interested in the shallow mount route?

I got a Pioneer premier shallowmount 10 in a custom box behind the longer portion of the rear seat on about .67 cubic feet. No loss of seating space or relocation of seatbrackets involvedm just that portion of the seat no longer folds up. Sounds about as good as I would expect for any mainstream medium sized sub. 225 for the box build, 170 the sub, not much involved other than removing the seat and bolting the box down.

Some of the 10s out now have even less mounting depth than mine. I hear Clarion makes a real good one. JL now makes a 13 that only needs .8 cubic feed of space and is 2.5 inches deep.

If 4 head unit powered coaxials and 2 12 inch, 500 watt subs is SQ to you, then a 3 way active front stage with one 8 in the rear run off 120 watts must be SPL.

I only have a single 10" in the back behind the driver side rear, with stock seats, but I think that Alta was working on putting neon seats in the back of Sully. might check with him to see how the progress is going.

Anyone do anything like this?

It's a picture I got from here before...not sure who had done it. I don't want to do anything crazy...8 or 10 inch for a little added bass. I have alpine components in the front and they obviously lack a little bit in that department. I could get by doing something like that...it could easily be removed if need be by putting little connectors on the outside of the box. Then I still maintain the ability to fold the seats up. I don't usually have passengers in the back anyways.

You have options... not many, but they're there... I actually bought a 2nd 40 rear seat and took out the 60... It works, my buddy and I built a 10" vented sub box that you could get some major bass out of... Great option if you're not really hauling people in the back... Seat actually can bolt in and be functional. You could buy the MTX box (which I have in now...) Great if you just want some more bottom end, but you're not going to disturb the block with it... or you could build a small box or 2 that could fit behind the seats... That's going to be my next project... If you're interested, I still have the 10" box and the 40 seat... pm me if you want that option, you can get mine...
