Any How To for replacing the pcm from a 99 durango?

Well I might be able to get a pcm and was wondering if it's an easy DIY. Also are there any drawbacks from buying a pcm from autozone compared to the Dodge dealer. I'm not sure if the PCM from autozone is an oem unit.

Thanks,
Jay

For what? Does your truck run?

A stock PCM (the only thing you might get from Autozone) won't do anything for you other than lighten your wallet.

Replacing the PCM is just 3-4 bolts and 3 connectors. There are a few sources that people have reported using for PCM. I think Autozone was high last time I looked. Try these that were in other posts: http://www.ecmtogo.com/ , www.cherry-auto.com also check ebay and junk yards.

Thanks for the great info Neil! I guess I won't need to go to the dealer and pay for it overpriced when Autozone and other places have the same PCM for less. They are OEM from autozone though correct? I don't want to put in a cheap unit only waiting for it to get fried.

Also, I was thinking since i was replacing the PCM, should i might as well go for the MOPAR performance PCM that most guys here go for? Are they about the same price as the regular PCMs?

Thanks!

Mopar PCMs are hard to come by now. I believe new they were around 350. You can find used ones once and a while for around 200-250.

350 for a brand new mopar PCM...What a steal, considering the OEM stock PCM goes for $450.
