My 5.7L Hemi swap thread

I figured I might as well start a thread for it now, since I made some pretty good progress this weekend and am 1/2 way done.

Here it is as it arrived:

Here it is roughed up. It'll get a very fine sanding, then polished to shine like chrome. This will be the only dress up for the motor, as it's very time consuming but will look badass when done.

Engine bay disassembled ready for pulling:

Not much room, but just enough for me to work with:

Engine is out:

Empty engine bay shot:

Screw you 4.7L:

Why hello 5.7L Hemi:

4.7L going on the pallet:

Everything tucks away for me to easily park 2 cars when I'm done:

It'll probably be 2 weeks before I can start on more of it, as I have to wait for the wiring to arrive, order the motor mounts then measure and fabricate them, and order the APS or Edge torque converter that'll go in. As of now I'm figuring about a month before I'll be done. I'm pretty much right on schedule of where I wanted to be.

It took about 2 weeks to pull the motor, but that's because I worked on it a little bit at a time. I didn't have time every day to work on it. When I was able to work on it, it was only for a little while. I could have done it in a day if I had the entire day to do it and didn't have any setbacks. A couple of things didn't go my way so every time I worked on it I only got a little bit done.

The heater works great. It takes a little while to heat the garage from the 30's to the 50's and 60's, but it has a thermostat that'll keep it at whatever temperature you set it at.

Yup, it sure does. However, I might have a slight wiring/programming issue since mine is the 4-speed 45RFE and the Hemi's computer is made for the 5-speed 545RFE. The only way I'll find out is when it comes time to drive it.

It is non-vented and the box doesn't say how many BTU it puts out. It only says it heats up to a 700 sq. ft. garage, which is bigger than this one is. We were going to go with one for a 1000 sq. ft. garage but decided on this one since it takes up less wall space and looks more suitable for a garage.

Good luck with the build, there's going to be a lot of fabricating!

Just wondering, did you have any problems with the 4.7 or did you just want to do a swap?
