90 amp or 136 amp alternator?

How do I know if I need the 90 amp or 136 amp alternator for my 4.7L V8 2000 Dodge Dakota...Thanks

Reputation: 54 gocartone has a spectacular aura about
136, 90 is way too small. You can check the alternator in your truck, it should say on it, but I'm pretty sure they never offered a 90 amp alternator.

I went to the auto parts store and they when they pulled up my motor it show two different alternators a 90 amp and a 136...the numbers on my alternator didn't come up in their computer...90 seems a low

Reputation: 34 petrock must have done something right
If its not written on the alternator somewhere, contact your local dealer's parts department. They should be able to look up what came stock on your ride based on your VIN number. Good luck...

They should interchange, just get the 136 and as long as it physically mounts, you are good to go.

The FSM only shows the 136 amp for the 4.7, p/n 56041324AC

Nothing lists a 90 amp, even the 2.5 lists a 117 amp.
