4.7 HO Cams - Availablity

Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up who are looking for the HO cams for your 4.7.

They are available through discountmoparparts.net

They are $145/ea. Clearly, you need both the left and right ones....

Summit has them for $113.39 each. Search P53021411 and -1412. I asked them, and they confirmed these are the 4.7 HO cams, direct replacement for the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4.7 HO engine. You'll have to wait for 'em - won't ship for at least a month, but that's the cheapest ones out there.

Can someone school me real quick please? I thought this was a SOHC as in Single Cam. Help me understand please. Woudl a DOHC v8 have 4 cams, two for each head?

Yes, no problem. It is a source of confusion for overhead cam V8 engines.

The 4.7 is a SOHC - Single Over Head Cam. This applies to each head - since the 4.7 has two heads, it requires two cams - one for each head.

You are correct - a DOHC V8 would require four cams, two for each head.

It was a total fluke! I just decided to Google the part number, and see what came up! Lo and behold...

Just because they have them listed does not mean they are available.

I think there was ONE set in New Jersey... forget the name of the dealership... I was going to buy them but never got round to it... not sure if they still have them or not... this was 4 weeks ago. Other then that last known set to me... there are no NEW sets available through Chrysler.

This is why I posted a few weeks back... The H/O cams where going quick with only 8 sets left at that time and those who sat on the fence thinking it was all Hype are now without H/O cams for god knows how long.

Sucks but it is what it is...

SPEED SAFE, NICK

Damaged in shipping. Trying to take it up with the seller before I take it up with Paypal. Irks the $hit out of me because they were brand new and are now unobtanium.
