Shift Cable Replacement

Hi. I just found this forum and thought I would ask a question. I Think I need to replace my shift cable but not sure how to do it and if it is something I should take to the mechanic. I had it replaced a couple years ago for the same thing. I notice that the steel cable in side the housing is visible when i shift it from park to the other positions. It looks as if the housing is separated from the cylindrical piece that attaches to the frame by the transmission. The only way I can shift back to park or any other gear up the line is by applying forward pressure while moving the shift lever up. Anyone have any advice on how to replace the cable? I have to order it from the dealer and its not cheap so I want to be sure before I order it. Thanks in advance for any input.

Joe

shift cable

I saw your other post where it's on back order.
Try a speed shop to see if there is something universal to replace it with.
Or call a good transmission/rear shop.

They might have some ideas for you.

Some parts are interchange between the Dur and Dak but I'm not sure about that.

I didn't even know there was a cable attached to that.
