Jeep 4.7/Dodge 4.7 Diff?

Is there a difference in the 4.7 between dodge and jeep? I have a jeep with a blown motor and a buddy has a 4.7 out of a dodge. Will it work?

What years? Same motors though, little changes from year to year. Someone else can help you with that though as IDK myself.

I think the most important thing is the tone ring on the camshaft I know they made 16tooth from 2000-2003 then I think mid 2003 they went to 32tooth. You might want to double check that but im pretty sure its right or close to being right. Not sure about the years on the Jeep but I think they went 32tooth sooner.

Also not sure if the sensor wheel in the right bank of cams makes a difference to the 16 or 32 tooth tone wheel.

I think thats the only issue from it working. I was thinking about buying an Jeep HO engine and its what ive come up with. Decided to rebuild mine though.

Dakotas had the 16t (JTEC) from 2000-2002. Durangos were the same, but some 2002 Durangos had the 32t (NGC).

'02 Ram - JTEC. Beyond that, could have been NGC, not sure of years.

99-02 Jeep GC's - JTEC as far as I know. May have switched mid-year like the Durangos.

If the engine is on the floor, just pull a valve cover (passenger side) and check that the reluctor ring on the cam matches yours. If it does, you're golden.

I guess I got 2003 mixed with 2002. Ive heard they went from the jtec to ngc on the 2002s. Although I think they had more NGC. Either way its something to be aware of and double check.

I would think the Jeep GC had 16 teeth tonerings from 1999-2004 because the (JTEC) PCM and TCM were separate (just like our 2002 and below Dakotas, and up to mid year 2002 Durangos). The 32 tooth tonering in the Dodge's was coupled with the NGC PCM (with integrated TCM).

I don't know for certain, but that's what I think...
