if you have a rear window, put pressure on it pushing it in towards the inside of the truck while attempting to slide it open to the right, use both hands... takes about 1min to get open, Ive done this a few times after locking my keys in, it doesn't break but it opens... go dodge!

pretty sure the key that starts it, is the key that unlocks the doors. weird that the key turns in both directions but doesn't engage the lock.

for that to happen, wouldnt both the connecting rods from the lock cylinders to the door latch have to be removed? my buddy just bought a chevy that had that problem. he carfaxed it, it ended up being a theft recovery.

Key for ignition should be the same key for the doors....I don't know of any Dakota that requires 2 keys....

i take my antenna off, use the large part where it screws in, and stick it up under the handle and it goes straight to the door lock on my durango and i just push it up and im in my truck in less than 30 seconds lol

Then you have a power lock problem on the driver side and also the connecting rods for both locks for the key are either broken or came out.

damn.. great tips that I wish I had known before..

I swear, for almost 2 weeks I locked my keys in my truck every other day.. Seriously.. I got in this habit of stepping out of my truck and throwing the keys to the seat while I grabbed something from the back after I had already pressed the lock switch..

I bet I did it 15+ times... No spare key either.. Always had to pry on the top of the door and slide something down to hit the button. Now I am always super paranoid and hardly leave my keys in my truck even at home

Call the assholes at the dealer and let them deal with it.
