Very, you'll need an engine hoist, disconnect the brackets holding the motor to the drivetrain. Expect a whole weekend if you're mechanically inclined and have the proper tools. Longer if not.

i will be using a lift the book says disconnect exhaust unbolt starter and lift the motor up on blocks. that seem simple enough

I didn't do any thing w/ the starter, or the exhaust, there's a lot of movement. If I were trying to do that again, I'd remove the bolts from the fan shroud so it would move up w/ the fan, that's what was limiting me in upward movement. I'd also try and get a piece of ply wood between the fan and the rad(punctured my rad removing engine)
What is it you need to do w/ the oil pan off? |

If you're removing the pan to replace the gasket you'll kick your self for not replacing the oil pump while you're there. Go standard volume, and the pick up screen is probably fine. The plenum plate is the worst known offender for these engines "burning oil". sprchrgd99 is your's a very visible leak?

yessir. thought maybe it was the oil filter since theres was shit all around it so i cleaned it all up and put in a new filter and made sure it was tight and still leaks so i know that wasnt the culprit.
i was also told that it was prolly the pan but i figured id try the easys hit first lol.

It's really not that easy, any chance it could be the rear main seal?
