3.9 death flash?

My brother has a 98 Dakota with 3.9, I drove it, it's stupid slow. Was there a death flash for the 3.9s?

maybe your truck is just stupid fast?

i think they did do it, i noticed a performance difference in my truck after i had it in a dealership one time, and it had the dreaded white sticker on the pcm saying it had new software on it.....so i got a sct tuner for it now and it made a hell of a difference! so in answer to your question, yes i believe it did

I thought all engines could get the death flash.

My 2000 3.9 had some software update sticker too. There is a number of which update it is on the sticker. Probably can find out if it has it with that number.

Man I remember the death flash for the 4.7L engines several years ago... People would be running low 10's in the 1/8 then return from the dealership running high 11's... LOL It was a killer on many trucks. I would not put it past Chrysler to do a death flash on anything... the thing that sucks is they would do it without telling you. I remember I had to tell my dealership NOT to touch the PCM without asking first. When I cam to pick it up they told me I had to get the new update... Since it ran great when I dropped it off I refused to let them touch even though they told me it needed the update.

There are several people who where never told... just get the truck back and it runs like ass.

You can always get rid of the Death Flash with some good old SCT tuning... The 3.9L is covered and we can tune it... Our sale ends tonight!
