My husband just had replaced the spark plugs on our 06 Dodge Durango 5.7 Hemi 120.000 miles truck and now it's shaking when idling. Someone told him that he might need to change the boots and also the wires.
We have never done and only replaced the spark plugs. Please help us out.
There are no wires on a 5.7. It sounds like a coil pack got unplugged and never plugged back in. Or possibly a plug isn't torqued down and that cylinder is losing compression/misfiring. Is the check engine light on?
Coil on plug systems are wayyyyy more forgiving of bad gapping than a distributor. They put 40kV right to the plug, versus 30kV to the distributor.. So unless it's completely bent and shorted, it's not the gap.
However this poster doesn't seem to care about a solution, since she hasn't even bothered to log in since she posted 3 weeks ago to see if there were replies.
