I have a rear from a 99 4WD and want to put it in my 02 2WD. I remember reading in a post that some Dur rears are different. I couldn't remember if it was 360/RT and 4WD axle tubes were bigger than 2WD tubes? I have all the hardware (u-bolts and plates) to swap but wanted to make sure that was the only difference. Thanx ya'll
The differences are these:
8.25"(10bolt) or 9.25"(12bolt) pumpkin housing
A yoke style driveshaft connection or a bolt flange. The bolt flange is on the 00+ models predominately.
The axle tube sizes are contingent on what size the axle is(8.25 or 9.25).
I have 9.25's. So then I can assume that they are the same then? I couldn't see any difference in measurements in width or anything else obvious. Thanx
So I swapped rears tonite and everything swapped over fine. So no difference in 4 and 2wd housings
