I'm helpin a buddy fix his sons 2002 Dakota sport that had no gauges and "no bus" on the odometer and wouldn't run. I ended up finding the 20 amp "Engine" fuse in the engine compartment fuse block was bad. It wasn't sending constant power to C1 22 at the PCM. It looked good but failed a continuity/resistance test with a fluke. So that problem is solved, truck runs now and gauges are back. However, now the headlights stay on whenever the truck is running. And not "on" on, they're dim until you turn the light switch on, then they brighten up. High beams and markers still work fine. Any ideas?
Well it must be a Canadian truck. I dug out the Haynes manual and it said the Canada trucks all had daytime running lights. None of the gen 3's I've owned in the past had them and I asked my buddy if they were always on before, he said he didn't know for sure. Guess all is well now, no check engine light and it was running great.
Just out of curiosity, he found a stored code for "thermostat inactive" or something? Never heard of that one. Any ideas? He cleared it before getting the number.
