Hi, John from Weirton, West Virginia here. I just registered on the website. I know that I should post in the new members forum but I thought it would be easier if I just put all my info here. Ok, so here is my dilemma. I have a 99 extended cab Dakota Sport 318, auto, 4x4 with low mileage that my youngest daughter rolled into the local creek. She slid on "black ice" on an off camber turn and into the creek she went. She is fine, wasn't even scared. The issue is that the truck ended up on its roof which basically caved it in. I want to rebuild it since the truck is rustfree, runs fantastic and has brand new tires on it. Ok, so now we come to my problem. Checking at the local junkyard I was told that ONLY 97-99 extended cabs will work. They didn't have anything available. I picked up what I thought was a 99 but just today I found out it is a 2000. So, I measured the cab in various different places (but not underneath) and it appears to be the same. I have looked at many websites online and they all say 97-99 cabs only will work. Does anyone know why? Thank you in advance for any help offered, John.
