I don't cover shit up. I avoid a direct spray onto the air filter, but other than that, soak it down. You engine is made to be somewhat "weatherproof" so it can stand getting wet. If not, what would you do when it starts raining?

Same here, I don't spray on my filter, distributor or computer. Other than that Fair game. I also have it running while doing this.

would that be safe to have it running? i would think it would be better to have it off to prevent the possibility of something shorting out

It's best to have the engine warm, but I wouldn't spray down a running motor. If nothing else, you are just wasting gas.

True. I do this and have been told you can either way. If you spray something and it changes idle you know to quit. Course I don't just blast a stream of water on it either. I use the nozzle with the fan spray to wash loose dirt off.

Not as good as buying a can of the Supertech engine degreaser from Walmart and using that.

I'd be more worried about cold water on a hot running engine hurting something than sucking up water.
