I heard the LM2 can log RPM with our trucks but what other parameters does it have the capability of logging? Spark Advance? TPS? Closed/Open loop status? Fuel Trims?

I'd like to be added to the list soon Probably won't happen until next summer though. How much have you guys been working together on tuning so far?

I have been helping some people with tuning their vehicles ranging from close to stock to pretty radical. My intent with this thread is to eventually see if some more people would like to start doing some tuning on their own vehicles, along with, of course, figuring out who out there are tuning themselves. There are multiple people on this forum (including myself) that are willing to help but it seems the general idea is that most people are intimidated by the idea of doing computer tuning. Hopefully we can eventually show people it isn't rocket science and get them motivated to do some tuning.

But first thing is first, who has the PRP?

I do, and I even got it back when SCT was charging an arm and a leg for it, lol.

X2 on the price deal. I'm AKA Intense RT on Dak R/T forum. I do all my own tuning and have gotten a little guidance from Sean here and there. I mostly pieced together my education on tuning and what each parameter does from Internet searches and PRP forum. Do that and trial and error. Going well so far given the time I have to do it. My tune matched the provided tune I got by doing datalogging, but I didn't like the a/f ratios provided. I've recently done some mods and still working on the tune as it is off again.

I can also tell people how to adjust for tire sizes too. Garmin GPS says I'm dead on. As far as I know, the common concensus "was" it cannot be done. I helped Hskr with his and he relay it to Sean as far as I know.

Right now, I want to find more on injector offset. I've done searches and found only a little

Yeah I have noticed that even on the SCT forums its very tight lipped. More questions then answers. Its good to see that you guys are getting together to share input. I will help out the best I can when I can.

I think this should be made into a STICKY... this tread has LOTS of potential for those PRP uses to collaborate and help one another.

I'm not sure if you were asking me but I have been helping people on a lot of different tuning concepts and there are some parameters that need the help of multiple tuners. Not only for trial and error, but also because SCT threw us in the deep end; basically "sink or swim". But that can be a good thing because we also don't know the full capability of SCT and could be in for a pleasant surprise (which is why the collaboration of multiple minds is what we need). When more people start getting the PRP, they will realize not only how it isn't difficult enough to warrant being intimidated by it and that almost anybody can do it.

lol that's interesting because I am Gearhead over there. I don't post much on that site but I've been thinking about spending more time over there. I will add you to the list and it's good to see you helped figure out the N/V calculations while confirming they actually work. As long as we all keep sharing info like this, we will go a lot further than if people hold back and try to keep it "proprietary", if you will. There have been some things people said that couldn't be done and I found that they could be done, just with a little work and/or manipulation.

I have worked with some people on injector offset and you want to PM me, we can compare notes on what this parameter does.

Not only are they sometimes tight lipped, but they couldn't care any less about us Dodge guys. Which is why we have to look out for each other when it comes to our tuning. I call SCT at least once a week to let them know either something is acting funny or trying to figure out how a potential mechanically critical parameter is utilized within the PCM and they constantly ignore me. Now if we had a BUNCH of people calling then I bet they would have to take notice and at least take our concerns more serious.

I have the LM-2. I log rpm, spark, MAP, and ECT. Don't really see the need for tps volt or percentage as very very few scalars display the relation. But it does determine when wot fuel starts, trans shift i think, and torque conv lockup. RPM, MAP, ECT, and to a lesser extent IAT would help tune fuel.

I have a little chart I used Paint to splice together to show the relationship of Torr, Kilopascals, and PSI. It should help because eveyone is familiar with psi. To those not sure, this is where manifold absolute pressure comes into play for the pcm to calculate how much fuel to add. Think of it as one part of an equation. a x b x c x d for example. When you change the fuel multiplier for wot you are changine one of these factors.

I'll see if I can attach the table I made as it's a lot easier tuning with it up on the desktop than going to a site and converting to each and writing it down. Then you can scan across the columns....

Thanks for the table. LM-2 seems like a decent option but if we could only get more products that will let us read fuel trims and other important parameters, it would help us PRP users a LOT.

all of this is very useful information...i plan on getting the PRP after the turn of the year and would like to learn everything i can about tuning to maximize my setup.

Would you mind trying to log some of these? I remember the OT-1 was supposed to do a lot more than it actually did when I used it.

What would be of most use? ST or LTFT? This is new to me and don't see it in SCT.

They both are useful so if you could try to see if you can log all of them, it would help. You will see the STFT go a lot faster than the LTFT so if the software or PCM is bogged down, it will look a lot slower. Fuel Rail Pressure would be very helpful as well but it looks like some of these parameters would be available in more of the newer PCM's but as many of those PIDS you could confirm, I, and I'm sure other people, would appreciate it. It would also help if people would help Mach so that h eisn't doing all of the work.

Important PIDS:

STFT - Both Banks
LTFT - Both Banks
Fuel Rail Pressure
MAP voltage or reading with an Engineering unit of some sort
Barometric Pressure is helpful
Coolant Temp
Vehicle Speed
Intake Air Temp
Engine Load
Commanded EQ Ratio
Open/Closed Loop Real Time status

And a few others but like I said, as much as you are willing to do would be appreciated.

yea he relayed it to me and I've applied it to 3 different folks and none worked. It's like 1 in 20 works. So frustrated. I supplied SCT with the tire size value by sending them tunes with ONLY tire size adjustment changes made to the same pcm. They located the bit that needs to be changed but said it's in a level of the pcm that they can't write to. Though the n/v pieces may work for some, it's not the actual and doesn't seem to take across the board.

Mach, I'll shoot you an email to dive into it more.

The injector offset "generally" allows for you to compensate for larger or smaller injectors. Making a change a there would keep you from altering the fuel table. I'd like to test this again. I went so long not messing with that because a year ago a customer put in 30# injectors and away we went with rescaling. Nothing worked. The customer just recently found out they were freaking 18# Ford Explorer injectors.
