I bought this 2001 Quadcab 4WD to convert it over to a Cummins w/NV4500. But for now I have decided to just bring it back with a fresh rebuilt 4.7 with factory 45rfe.
The prior owner said there was a terrible knock in the engine. When I asked about the knock he said it sounded like the engine was going to come apart at anytime so he pulled the motor and then never did anything with it. I bought the truck for 900 dollars. The body is in decent shape, silver grey, with cloth interior. The only damage on the body is the hood which was picked up by the window and blown across the yard into a pole and dented up.
I broke down the engine and discovered the only thing wrong with it was a few of the center pistons had worn pistons skirts. That is what caused the piston slap due to to much wiggle room in those cylinders.
