2000 durango - battery not holding charge

Okay so i have a 2000 durango... alternator is good, battery is about 2 weeks old. Mechanic installed an external grounder on the alternator to by pass the cpu to the battery.

battery went to zero while driving last night and check engine light came on. Noticed the lights dimming this morning, but it did start up and drive 10+ miles okay today.

The external grounder on the alternator is supposed to be a fix for bypassing the cpu when there are charging issues ( apparently my cpu wasnt telling the alternator to charge my battery )

Is the only fix to replace the CPU or is there anything else i can try?

about 4 weeks ago the truck just shut down in the middle of traffic while i was driving with my young child in the truck. ... dont want this to happen again.

Have you checked the battery temp sensor? Its located under the battery. I was having the same issues a couple of years ago and that was the culprit.
