Operating Temperature.

I really think my engine is not getting up to its needed temperature but I need to know what your trucks are running at before I know. Here's what mine sits at after almost 45 minutes of city driving.

Yeah, operating temp should be a tick or so under 210. That said, it's likely not a cooling system issue, but rather the temp sending unit that's shot. Relatively cheap fix.

That was a thought I just wasn't sure, and really don't just wanna throw parts at it.

Well, the sending unit is cheap, so it's not an expensive part to toss at it.

If not - find someone with a non-contact thermometer, and see how hot the thermostat cover / water outlet is, and how hot the top of the radiator and the upper radiator hoses are.

If they're consonate with a 210F temp, you're good, it's just the sending unit. If they're consonant with a 140-150F temp, you've got a problem.

If they're consonant with the lower temps, I'd check the thermostat first.

I didn't know that temperatures could be non-vowel letters.

See, I thought about that but wanted to be sure. I know I have a stock thermostat and a 3.9.

They're not.

See http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/consonant?s=t - meaning #3, as an adjective, not a noun.

(And yes, I misspelled the first usage of it. Dang it! My knuckles STILL hurt from re-reading it later ... my 3rd grade teacher would have rapped them HARD with the ruler! Why, yes, I am 57, and that was 48 years ago or so, why do you ask?)

You're forgiven. It was still more readable than some of the gibberish that some people post here.
