That's right. Although I heard that having it on a warm engine and spraying is worse. When running though it is it is better since it stays at operating temp. Most of the time when I decide to wash the engine it is after I washed the truck, I crank it up then wash it then turn it off and wipe it down.

I have never worried about it getting in my KN fipk and then being sucked in the engine, I use a strong mist I don't spray it at the filter. If you are worried about that I wouldn't suggest driving your truck in the rain.

I guess its personal choice though. Google it and you get people saying both.

A good friend of mine showed me a trick years ago that I have been using since, warm up your engine don't get it hot unless you want to run the risk of cracking your exhaust manifold with cold water. Then spray it down with degreaser. Hose the engine off and let it dry, then warm it up again and spray it with tire dressing let that sit for a rinse it off and when the water dries your engine will look like it just rolled off the show room floor works like a charm every time!

I cover the alternator & A/C with a baggie. I worry the Simple Green will harm the bearings in these parts. Buy then I spray the SG, let it sit, get out the brushes and then rinse. Never had any problems.

I just take it to the coin car wash, spary it off with the tire cleaner/engine cleaner feature and rinse it off. I try not to soak the sensors, or anything that matters, but you wont hurt the engine. I cant chime in on the cai cause im still running a stock keg

You can do what ever you want its your truck. But I do it shut off and just avoid computer and intake. If i do get the intake just take your filter of and dry it let it sit or hair dryer it. I wouldnt do it running at its normal operating temp. Cold water and hot metal can shrink never know what could happen. Its different then driving in rain. Just my opinion...

The way I was taught years ago was do it cold. I use Simple Green as it is not to harsh on the aluminum stuff. Spray it on the cold engine, let it sit for a few minutes and then I spray it down with my power washer. The only thing I do before hand, is take the air cleaner off put a carb hat on, then spray away. Once finished washing, I blow the excess water off with my leaf blower, start the truck and let it warm up and evaporate any left over water. Works every time, no problems.

Just put a plastic bag on it. That will keep it from sucking up water.

You're joking right?? Putting a plastic bag over the air filter on a running motor is not a good idea.

And having the engine warm(not hot) when trying to clean it helps loosen any built up grease/oil to make cleaning easier.

Haha yes. Although I did have a friend that did it, and it was pretty damn funny.
