You need a switch that will handle 12v and 30A at least, the more the better, some 10ga. wire, run a 30a fuse (or whatever fuse the HHR fan needs) and wire everything, and bring the switch inside. You'd have to switch it on and off when you want (keep an eye on that temp gauge)

or you can just buy a temperature switch from summitracing.com

Wackoff motors finally emailed me about my order. They are not charging $5.95 shipping, they're charging $12 'due to size' and it has to be ordered. Hmm, maybe they should just change the fucking website before I order it.

Using a switch and not a relay for any kind of high draw device is stupid. You want the wires to be as short as possible to lessen resistance in the wires. Use a relay if you want to put it on a simple switch.

I highly recommend using a fan controller of some sort so you don't have to turn the fan on/off yourself.

Maybe he wants to have an electrical fire hazard inside his cab. Ever think about that?

Exactly!

And yea they emailed me about the $12 shipping instead of $5.95, I saw that coming though when I saw "$5.95 for under 5 lbs."

Okay guys I pretty much got the fan and shroud fabricated and ready.Just need to do some minor painting of the brackets and find something to put underneath the shroud since I had to cut 4 inches off the bottom.I recessed the fan into the shroud.I used a dremel and cut notches out for the mounting tabs on the fan.I just stuck them through and bolted the one on the bottom to the bottom of the shroud. This thing is really in there tight and I know it will work pretty good.It looks pretty damn good to mounted on the radiator.OBSERVE......
Heres the radiator before install.

I had to make this bracket so that it will mount on the drivers side.

I welded the bolts in the bracket for easier installation.

Heres the bracket for the passenger side.

I had to cut 4 inches off the bottom of shroud.

I had to cut notches with a dremel 4 inches from the shroud inlet to get the fan recessed in there.

Heres it installed on radiator.I know the brackets look bad without them being painted and curved. This is a rough cut and will get through with everything tomorrow.

And finally installed on truck.

I cant use my factory coolant reservoir or windshield washer bottles. But oh well.If you go get that one out ofd the junk yard it probably doesnt have the recalled fan in it.You could probably get the VIN off of it and take the fan to the dealer and they have to GIVE you the recalled fan.Hell you can try it.It might work.I read that the original fan blades start coming apart and will put a hole in your radiator.

I will paint brackets and form that ugly bracket on the left so it looks like its supposed to be there tomorrow and will post tomorrow.

Yeah I was not going to use the fan I was going to buy new. I was going to get the shroud since it was so cheap and see how it fit, but you beat me to it.

I am going to go ahead and get the shroud I think but am going to try and use my FAL BM180 fan with the SCT and factory wiring. If that does not go too well then this is the way I will be going.
