Regular Cab - Factory console options?
My 03 BW RC R/T had one of Dakolorado's killer JL Audio subwoofer conversions that was integrated into the center seat/flip-down console. Unfortunately, my 99 BK RC R/T doesn't have the center seat (and I don't want one), it has the center console.
I am contemplating customizing the cupholder area for a floor shifter, similar to what Tom Cuillier has (if you know him from the DRTC board). While I'm at it, I'd like to put some bass into the truck, the speakers I've got in there just aren't cutting it for full-range sound. I would like to avoid adding boxes behind the seats - just not the way I want to do it. I'd like this to be as invisible as possible - can an 8" or 10" subwoofer be integrated into the factory console? Any ideas/suggestions/photos? |

Steve could you send me a link to the cup holder conversion floor shifter? I am thinking of doing that, but don't have a visiual yet of how it would look with my console intact! Thanks!

Keep in mind that's not a readily available product. Glen Renzoni made a one-time batch of maybe 3 or 4 shells somewhere around 4-5 years ago, and that was it... Tom got one of them but had to do some moderate fiberglass work to get the end result you see there - I expect I'll probably have to do the same. I dunno if I'll try to learn how to glass on my own, or use/abuse one of the local audio shops... |

ya it looks good, you could modify it I am sure... make it more of an inline style since you probably only need 1 sub... even give you a little storage space too!

I'll see what I can do - I think I may have one or two pictures from when I put it up for sale, but they'd be archived on one of my external drives. I'm going on vacation in less than 48 hours, not sure if I will have time to dig them up before I hit the road. You can look up the user "Dakolorado", he's the one who was making them for people (I don't think he does anymore though).

With a little cutting on the console and some MDF or fiberglass you could probably make a downfiring 8" sub work in the console. The edges of the sub would tuck under the edges of the seats.
