EGR Light is on, running rough

and she bucks in first and second a bit.

Want to replace the EGR, but have no idea where it is.. If someone can post a picture of where it is, I can replace it, but until then, I have no idea where to go.

Since this is an early OBD1 system, can the EGR light mean a number of different things?

The EGR is usually on the back of the engine or near the firewall.

Im not sure if you can check your codes with the ignition switch. The slightly newer years, if you turn the key on and off in a series of turns, the engine light will blink a code. The process can be found in the FAQ section.

Try disconnecting the vacuum hose to see if there is a change in how the engine runs. If the engine runs better, this could mean a few possibilities but does not necessarily mean the EGR is bad. Also check your smog pump when the engine is warm at normal operating temp. to see if there is warm air being blown into the exhaust manifold. (should only blow air when the engine is cold)
