i was wondering if i could put 4wd front wheel bearing in a 2wd truck as this is going to be a drive way job i cant press a 2wd bearing in but if i can put the 4wd hub assembly in there it will be a lot easier thank you in advance
Am I missing something? My truck's front bearings just slid onto their spindles. Removed the wheel, removed the brake hardware, removed a huge nut from the spindle, and the bearing just slid off. (Don't re-use the huge nut, though)
You can buy just the bearings (cheaper) or the hub/bearing assembly (more expensive). I think the bearing by itself is about $20/side, while the assembly can cost up to $150+ at an AutoZone (or similar).
Sounds like when you replaced yours - you purchased the hub/bearing assembly. This is the more common method to replace the bearings, since you don't have to press them into/onto the hubs.
