I don't have one in my truck. I want one what don't I need to have to hook it up right. i know you can get to piece from ebay for chep , but what about all the wiring and censors?

I installed a overhead uint in my 02 Dakota Quad Cab.

I added the Electronic Trip Computer, (FOR A 2002 Dakota) Part Number 56049050AE (list Price $265). I got mine off of ebay for $80 shipped. No wiring harness exists in the roof area if the vehicle did not come with a trip computer. I purchased a harness (Part Number 4760108-AH List $44.70) from my local Dodge Parts Guy and had my son (a Auto Electrical Tech by trade) wire in the harness. I first tried a Trip Computer from a 99 Chrysler 300M. The only thing I could ever get to work was the Homelink and the compass. You MUST have a Overhead Trip Computer from the same year/make/model vehicle. If the Overhead Trip Computer is from a different year/make/model vehicle the Trip Computer doesn't/can't talk to the ECU.

This was just my experience, so be careful when purchasing a computer that is not for your model/year vehicle.
